You create belonging everywhere you go. Warmth, inclusion, the feeling that everyone in the room matters. You do this naturally and constantly and it is genuinely generous. The part you rarely examine is what it costs you when no one creates that feeling back for you.

You're drawn to people who appreciate what you give. Who see the effort and say so. What you want most is reciprocity. What you're most vulnerable to is people who receive your warmth without returning it, because you keep giving longer than you should.

Your sense of self is closely tied to how the people around you are doing. When relationships are in tension, it registers in your body before it reaches your thinking. You take on other people's emotional weather as if it were your own.

You can confuse being needed with being loved. They are not the same thing. The clearest sign of the difference is how you feel when the people you give to are doing fine without you.
