The Obsessive

"The INTP who falls into one problem and forgets the rest of life exists."

Core Philosophy

Real understanding only lives at depths most people quit before reaching.

Core Identity

You read as quietly intense, sometimes wholly absent, occasionally surfacing with something nobody else could have produced. Underneath, obsession is the closest you get to feeling whole. Your Ti goes deep on one node until it yields; your Si (inferior) loses track of food, sleep, and people while it does.

Strengths
  • Sustains focus past the point others would call diminishing returns and finds the actual returns
  • Produces work nobody else would have the patience to finish
  • Holds a problem in mind long enough for the real shape to appear
Weaknesses
  • Disappears into a problem and re-emerges to find relationships eroded
  • Treats sustained attention to people as a different muscle than the one you trained
  • Mistakes intensity of focus for completeness of self
Communication Style

Sporadic, dense, occasionally tender in unexpected ways. You hide need inside problem-talk. Under stress you go deeper into the work, not closer to the person.

Emotional Defense

You submerge. The depth is between you and the surface where being a partner happens. It looks like passion and costs you the relationships that needed a person, not a project.

Social Energy

You enter half-submerged in whatever you were doing before. You read for whoever else is also somewhere else. You leave the instant the obsession calls.

"I'll come up for you. I just need to finish this layer first."
