The Oracle
The Hermit
"The INFJ whose front door closes earlier and earlier each year."
Most of what other people call 'connection' costs me more than it returns.
You read as warm and present in short bursts and then unavailable for stretches no one fully understands. Underneath, the retreat is the cost-management strategy of someone whose nervous system runs hot in company. Your Ni stays sharp at home; your Fe runs the social interface and quietly drains the battery.
- Knows your limits and respects them without apologising every time
- Produces unusually focused work in long, undisturbed stretches
- Returns from solitude with more, not less, to give
- Lets the gap between visits grow until the relationship is technically still alive and functionally not
- Mistakes recovery time for personality
- Underestimates how much your absence costs people you actually love
Sparse, late, often more thoughtful when it lands than when it was due. You hide the cost of contact behind 'just busy'. Under stress you let messages sit until answering becomes its own anxiety.
You retreat. The door is between you and the cost. It looks like self-knowledge and costs you the people who would have learned how to be around you if you'd let them try longer.
You enter at full presence for a sharp window and then start draining visibly. You leave before draining becomes irritation. You go quiet for longer than the room expected.
The ability to synthesise vast amounts of information into a single compressed understanding. It does not deliberate — it converges. The Oracle does not decide what they sense. They receive it.
The emotional antenna. They feel the room before they enter it. They adjust their presence, tone, and approach in real time to what the people around them need, often before anyone has asked.
The internal quality-checker. When the Oracle's intuition and their logic do not align, this function catches the discrepancy. Less developed than the top two, which means they sometimes trust feeling over accuracy.
The physical present. When the Oracle is overwhelmed, Se erupts — they become suddenly impulsive, sensory, uncharacteristically reckless. This is their stress expression, and it surprises everyone who thought they knew them.
"I wasn't gone. I was just out of whatever it is being in a room costs."
